Visiting Oradea

or9

It's been a while since I made an appearance here and let's just say it was a slow transition back to Cluj. I spent a few days alone there, just me and my cat and unfortunately she didn't master the art of photography, so taking photos was out of the question.
After making the apartment squeeky-clean, my lovely flatmates soon appeared and we decided to take a trip to almost-nearby Oradea, near the border with Hungary. I knew it was an interesting city and I wanted to visit it since last Spring, but I never thought I could find so many beautiful, amazing buildings which were onece upon a time, palaces.
If you are a Art Nouveau fanatic like myself, Oradea is the place to visit. It has so many buildings from that period, a few of them were restored and now they look like gingerbread houses! We did not have time to explore everything I wanted to, but there is always a next time.
All I can say is that it appears to be a lovely city, with many many many old houses that I love (I don't think I have ever seen that many, not even in Cluj) and I spent a lovely day despite the cloudy weather and forgetting the fact that I lost the cute pink sweater (and irreplaceable) I had with me. Oh well..

We even got a chance to visit the Zoo and took dozens of photos of meerkats and felines. Naturally.

Escape the city...into a different one.

This Sunday we decided to get out of the city to explore a new one nearby (actually I had no idea of this, it came as a surprise, so it was quite a spontaneous thing, which was nice).
It appeared the good weather was on our side so the day turned out to be a lovely one. We visited Botosani, not a famous city from our country but nonetheless, lovely and it was close to my hometown and what the heck, I never seen it properly before.

We started the day boating on the cute little lake in the park and we continued visiting toward downtown. I knew tere was an old city somewhere and I really wanted to see it because a person who has an ongoing crush for historical buildings will always be attracted to that. So we went there and I was surprised to see how few people were not only there but in the whole city as well. "Too bad" I thought, because it is a beautiful area that reminded me of Sibiu a bit; but the city was numb as my own hometown as if it was waiting for some event to show up and stir things up a bit.
We ended the day with a film at the cinema which was delightful and then we went straight home with pleasant memories in our minds. Peaceful days like these are the ones that I'm looking forward the most.

Back from Bucharest!

Oh yes, I am back in Cluj after my little trip to the capital which was so full of events and so fun! Wish I could go there more often..
Here is the first set of pictures since my return, between classes and grabbing a coffee with the girls. And right now I am so tired because I worked aaallll night long for a project at school and well, I never thought coffee would keep me awake, it usually doesn't work for me. Now I am thinking of making another cup just to survive this evening until I can fall asleep at a "decent" hour.
Here I am wearing a brand new pair of wedges, actually not that new, since they were from a vintage shop. They happened to fit me and to be quite cute and in an impeccable state and you know how much they cost me? Not even 5 euros! Now that is a purchase to be really proud of.
Okay, I am falling sleep, time for coffee!

The charm of old times

Yesterday has been a long day, but nonetheless quite fun despite the fact that my feet ended up like a war zone. I went with the girls for a coffee on the other side of the city at one of their place and.. by foot. We decided to walk and I was ok with the idea given the fact that I had small heels and I could handle it. Yeah..I did, splendidly. By the time I got up on the hill I felt a bit uncomfortable but as soon as I put my shoes back on, oh mama.. it felt like walking with razor blades shoes. Most of you know what I'm talking about. So... I am now on a "flat shoe diet", though they hurt too.
Anyway, walking around we encountered a street with soooo many beautiful old mansions, of which I simply fell in love with - if I could live there I would be the happiest person ever - and I decided to enter the gate and take some photos, just imagine at the top of those stairs a huge house with a beautiful garden. I was afraid to linger too much there, I imagined an old countess or something setting three dogs on me. Next time for sure I will explore the zone as much as I can.

The enchanted coat

In my sheep coat again, which used to be my mother's, I honestly feel like a very important woman that everybody should pay attention to and bow before me while wearing it (you know how I secretly wish that) It's like enchanted, when I take it off nobody looks in my direction anymore, that is a very amusing thing. These were taken while Winter still reigned in my hometown, now I am back in Cluj and there is no trace of snow here (wohoo!) so I can wear heels more easily and enjoy the Spring-like breeze - maybe this is why I feel more energetic since I got here. Interesting. pnk3 pnk4 pnk1 pnk6 pnk2

Revive the old times

I know it's Autumn in the Northern hemisphere, alas, the weather today was warm and nostalgic, therefore perfect for me to wear again this peplum lace top. I gathered more than twenty chestnuts in the park (purely for decoration) and I am seriously thinking to change my hair color into a darker shade like...chestnut. I remember having that color the first time I dyed my hair..when I was about fifteen. We'll see, I am known to change my mind rapidly.
Yesterday we went to this amazing little tea house, called Qui One Quint were I drank the most delicious tea, cookies included! When I entered the place it felt like I was in someone's home, visiting a close friend, chatting over tea. I mean..the place was indeed someone's house, remodeled, but it still had that antique feeling which I adore and I could imagine so many memories there. I hope next time to take some photos so you can see.
This city has so many fascinating and also hidden places! It's a pleasure each time to discover them.
