First of all, I want to thank you all for your sweet words and your support after yesterday's post. I was having a really hard time yesterday, but hearing all of your words of encouragement really made everything better. One of my readers, Nicole, [she has the cutest blog ever and I swear her and I are like kindred spirits. She's so real about everything and her blog is one that I can never go a day without reading] told me about the 30x30 Challenge that she saw on Kendi's blog, and I am in love with it. Basically you choose 30 pieces from your closet and mix and match those 30 pieces to make 30 different outfits for 30 days. I will be starting on Monday and I'm actually really excited about it! Because along with my spending freeze, this will help force me to see my closet in a new light. To go shopping in my own closet and realize that I have so many cute pieces. I'm also excited because at the end of the 30 days, I will be able to better distinguish my wants from my needs. Every time we go shopping and I pick something out, H always says, "Don't you have like 3 shirts that look just like that?" Of course I always disagree and purchase it anyway, only to realize upon arriving home that I do, in fact, have 3 [or more] shirts just like that. I think that once I do this 30x30 challenge, I won't be as tempted to impulse buy as much as I have in the past, because I will already know the things I am missing from my wardrobe. My sister-in-law sent me this quote that I absolutely LOVE: "Stop buying the unnecessary. Toss half your stuff, learn contentedness. Reduce half again. List 4 essential things in your life, do these first, stop doing the non essential. Clear distractions, focus on each moment. Let go of attachment to doing/having more. Fall in love with less."
Oh, and I forgot to tell you, yesterday while H and I were taking pictures, this old man in his 60s was walking by, and as he passed us he called out, "Lookin hot!" Haha, it definitely made my day!Anyway, if you are wondering what is going on with my hair in these pictures, well the kids and I played out in the rain yesterday. And I didn't wash my hair afterwards. So this morning it wasn't cooperating, and after trying out 10 different hairstyles, I officially gave up, and this was the result. H thought it looked hot though, so I guess it worked out. ;] And how cute is this top? I love it because it's kind of edgy, and every girl needs that sometimes! Sugar Love Boutique has easily become one of my new favorite shops, and right now they are offering all FF readers 30% off using the code: fashionflirtation.

Have you ever had a moment of clarity when you realize that you're just doing it wrong? I had one of those a few days ago. It's like all of a sudden I got caught up in the world and all of these things became so important to me. I was constantly spending money on things that didn't really matter, like my worth depended on whether or not I had the latest trending purse or the cutest shoes. Now don't get me wrong--there is nothing wrong with shopping or having cute and fun things. The problem is when those things start to take you over and become your main priority. I don't know. I guess what I'm saying is that I kind of lost control of myself, and I didn't like what I was turning into. All I was focusing on was stalking the trendiest blogs to see what fancy thing I would buy next. There are so many other things in life that are more important than clothes and shoes, and sometimes you need to take a step back to realize it. I'm not going to stop posting pictures or give up my fashion blog, however I am going on a little spending fast. So you may see me repeating clothes a lot for the next little while.
With that being said, I am also selling a bunch of my clothes that I don't wear as much. [And I sold my Clare Vivier yesterday. I'm pretty sad about it, but it needed to be done. I've never been one to spend hundreds of dollars on one item anyway, so as much as I loved it, I just didn't really feel like myself.] You can see all of my items for sale on Poshmark HERE. [user name vfarnsworth]
Anyway. Here are a few pictures we took this morning [my last morning with the Clare Vivier, haha] wearing all of my favorite pieces. My favorite shirt, favorite pants, and favorite shoes.
Anyway, that's all I really feel like writing today. And now I'm off to Summer Movies with the kids.
Tomorrow's Friday!xoxo,
